Located on the Brittany coast of the English Channel, the Station Biologique de Roscoff was founded in 1872 by Henri de Lacaze Duthiers, Professor at the Sorbonne University, who was attracted by the exceptional variety of biotopes in the area. The Station is scientific partner of the project Tara Océans wich is a boat who sail around the world to make samples of planctoon. A variety of planctoon, the protists, unicellular organism, sampled on board Tara all over the oceans arrives in Roscoff to be store and studied.
